SUSTAINABLE DESERT RESEARCH CENTER
The SDRC, Sustinable Desert Research Center, is an Environmental Research Center located in Southern mountain, Kerman, Iran (hot-arid Climate Zone). It is allocated between Baherstan-e-Honarmandan Center and Jame Mosque. The building is integrated into a mountain in terms of utilizing the thermal mass through the earth mass. The form of the building is inspired by the concept of Research; form follows function.
The building is designed to serve as a research tool for environmental education. Arriving at the site (Dasht-e Lut Desert), Researchers pass through the mountain, enter the building in the mountain peak with a view to a GREEN Dome, allocated within the mountain, and cross through the staircases to the sunken courtyard.
