SAMA DANCE LIBRARY CENTER

The SDLC, Sama Dance Library Center is a Dance Library Center located in Taq-e Bostan, Kermanshah, Iran (moderate climate). The five stories building is Located in the Taq-e Bostan lake. The central courtyard provides natural light and natural ventilation, which indicates dance of air, light, and shadow besides utilizing passive strategies in the building. The building includes a large auditorium and a kindergarten in the first floor, a restaurant, closed and semi-open spaces, in the second floor, a dance class in the third floor, and the main library in the two last floors.

The design concept was inspired by Sama dance, a traditional Persian Dance. Sama dance looks as a simple dance at the first expression but it is complicated when it is completely revealed. Building is designed to appear simple from outside. As soon as entering the building, the visitors determine the dance of light and shadow around themselves.

 

 

 

 

 

 

An elevator and stair cases are considered as two main circulations in the building. The galleries are integrated with the semi-open circulations (stair cases), which are located in the building perimeter.
